Revisiting some chapters from FMA, and damn the action was so good!
I wish I still had my old Chinese edition tankobon. Gotta repurchase this series now 😭 #FullmetalAlchemist
I would also recommend #FullmetalAlchemist, which is one of my all-time favorites and a heavy influence in my work. Despite a veneer of occasional silly shounen humor, the story itself is deeply philosophical as the concepts of power and truth are explored.
Naoki Urasawa's work, such as 20th Century Boys and Monster, should also appeal to a Western audience with a grounded and plot-driven storytelling style.
Monster is about a doctor who is wrestling with saving the life of a child who turned out to be a psychopathic killer.
