Undead Unluck 83: Spring's distinctive speech pattern of 5-7-5 mora is back again. It's ALL OVER the chapter, so I suggest you read yourself.
Example for the uninitiated:
単騎とな それは勇気か 愚かさか (tanki to na, sore wa yuuki ka, orokasa ka) = 5-7-5
Undead Unluck Ch. 86: Forgot to mention this the day of, but Spring's fans have two sayings on them 春秋筆法 (shunjuu hippo) and 月旦春秋 (gettan shunjuu.) These both use 春秋 which comes from the Spring-Autumn period (春秋時代) the 1st half of the Eastern Zhou period, (1/6)
In EN, I wanted to convey this so that it'd fit in the gutter note and so that it would use "spring" (春) I opted for "spring to conclusions," a pun on "jump to conclusions." It conveys a similar idea while retaining part of the reason why the phrase was used. (4/6)
retain the connotations to the kanji for spring and to tie it back to Isshin (with her character/personality coming to the forefront or "coming into bloom".) (6/6)
you know, this part 6 stuff ain't half bad now
mfw when I read this a week ago #undeadunluck
Undead Unluck 89: 初見殺し (shokengoroshi) is a gaming lingo for getting killed when you're trying something for the first time (see: boss fights.) スルー推奨 (suru suisho) is "ignoring recommended," more game lingo." point is, billy plays endwalker for sure :^)
