Here's an assortment of quips and gags from Mizuo that I liked. Sen no Rikyu is said to be the progenitor of modern day Japanese tea ceremony concepts, so him offering you a drink would make you question if it's a spot of tea or a shot of bourbon.
Mizuo's first name is 海月/Kurage (jellyfish.) My guess is the RN was made to be a potato with eels coming out of it (to resemble a jellyfish.)
Mimei's on-air name (ラジオネーム) is 森にふくろう/Mori ni Fukurou which takes from his name 梟森未明 (Fukumori Mimei) which has "fukurou" (owl) and "mori" (woods/forest) in it. Also 未明 is "not yet known" or "unknown" which pertains to him not having his mail read yet.
The original is "she would change into new slouch socks in the foyer/entryway" (where you'd remove your shoes.) Since that's a harder concept to grasp for non-Japanese, it was modified so that the girl is a "slouch" like her "socks."
Here are the music references in the first chapter. Ging Nang Boyz, Official Hige Dandism, and Sambomaster.
The manga itself explains this, but there is a bit of the concept that is sort of foreign to non-Japanese audiences. Still, it's not too hard of a concept to grasp. You make a prompt, people answer it.
Man, time flies. I remember this was around when Numbers Weapon wasn't quite finalized on our side for ナンバーズ4 yet. I can't believe it's been 3 years since this point in the story already. https://t.co/HE0VZgiiGK
Prolly wait till next week for a full thread, but I think this little exchange was prob most difficult in Someone Hertz. Mizuo says 照れてんだー/teretendaa (you're being bashful) and that rhymes with プリテンダー/pritendaa (Pretender.) I kind of doubled up in EN for flow.
okay, since we got the jonouchi air max collab, when's the bakura new balance deal?
Kaiju No. 8 Ch 129: The two people referenced here are parodies on Gakki (Yui Aragaki) and Gen Hoshino, two celebrities who were co-stars on “Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu" where two roommates enter a contractual marriag actually did marry in 2021. https://t.co/28kr2P6982
Gokurakugai Ch 27: Alma once again sings commercial jingles. This one is for Tsuki ni Ukarete (Giddy from the Moon) Kinchou Manju custard buns where the mascots are the Kincho Tanuki, based on Kincho, the famous bake-danuki of Komatsushima.
