These were real slogans by the Imperial Rule Assistance Association. The first was directed toward the combined population of Japan, Taiwan, and Korea (under Japanese rule,) which equaled to 70 mil people. The other was telling them to bear the squalor till the war was won. (4/6)
For example, a camera is カメラ and not a 写真機(shashinki) since the latter sounds datee. With the post-war setting, it's rendered 拳闘 to reflect the times. In EN, while there other words that could be used ("pugilism" "prizefighting") I opted just for "boxing." (3/6)
The word for "boxing" in Do Retry is 拳闘 ("kentou"/"fist fight".) In modern day Japanese, most words that have a loanword are usually used instead, primarily in sports with some exceptions. (Baseball is still yakyuu/野球 etc.) (2/6)
Undead Unluck 156. I also had "Aw dog Sean it" but I guess that one is never going to be sean. https://t.co/C1M0sEX553
here's a real media example: ichigoki ch 18, only it's causative form. ("making flowers bloom in stories about old times.") https://t.co/yfW4B97EH9 https://t.co/7oGufMNPqh
Gokurakugai Ch 7: Alma says 腕が爆弾アイスになる! "my arms are turning into bakudan ice." Bakudan Ice is ice cream in big bulbous rubber tubes that you snip at the tip and suck. You can end up squeezing too hard and it goes everywhere. https://t.co/h0RuElq7tp
Ch 4: The gag talked about here is the 熱湯風呂 (nettouburou/boiling bath) is a bit by ダチョウ倶楽部 (Dachou Club) where one of them (usually the late Ryuhei Ueshima) would balance over a tub of hot water screaming not to push him in only to get kicked in. Comedy ensues.
Also, before the series started, I went through a bevy of different revisions for 解決屋事務所. The one before "Troubleshooter" was "Fixer" ("Gokurakugaki Fixer Agency.") However, Tao explains themselves with katakana トラブルシューター/troubleshooters so that settled that.
Ch 3: Tatsuomi is from Kansai region, so he speaks in Kansai-ben. Since everyone speaks pretty gruff in this series, I tried to make him sound distinct enough from Alma & Tao. Here's a thread bout Hoshina from K8 where I tackled this as well. https://t.co/TN3ITLEV6j
