Undead Unluck 83: Spring's distinctive speech pattern of 5-7-5 mora is back again. It's ALL OVER the chapter, so I suggest you read yourself.
Example for the uninitiated:
単騎とな それは勇気か 愚かさか (tanki to na, sore wa yuuki ka, orokasa ka) = 5-7-5
Kaiju 42: I liked this panel for a few reasons. ①Keeping the setup from the original (build is in the 1st panel, reveal in the 2nd.) ②Translating the word with 20 billion EN equivs 厄介 (yakkai.) ③Integrating 狙いを持つ (nerai o motsu/having a goal) in a non-clunky way.
Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 40: probably my top 10 favorite panels to translate of all time bc i get to channel my inner shitposter.
Undead 72: A little one panel joke that hinged on the furigana: 不運は殺されない (fuun wa korosarenai/Unluck [i.e. "I"] won't be killed [here]) with furi 不死 (不運は不死/fuun wa fushi. Elaborating with a compromise of both readings is essential to get the point across.
A sort of holdover from Matsumoto-sensei's previous work, Pochikuro, is Kikoru's butler, Sebas. (瀬羽須 in Kaiju No. 8. Full name in PochiKuro was セバスニャン/Sebasnyan.) "Sebas" comes from Sebastian, which is the manga/anime equiv to "Jeeves" for butler names. (1/2)

Counting up these syllables was a pain in the butt lol #アンデラ
JP: "ya bo da no u" (5) "ha ru no ha na mi wo" (7) "ja ma su ru ka" (5)
EN: "How very uncouth" (5) "Dare to disrupt my cherry" (7) "blossom viewing eh" (5)
Since "change" is a major word in the Gina arc, I wanted to make sure the dialogue retained "change." "Change her heart" = "change + make her fall in love", "Change mortality" = "change + death." Then, I write around Andy's personality to make it sound believable and voila. (3/3)
変えて抱いて俺が変わる (kaete daite ore ga kawaru) is simple enough: "I'll change [her], do the deed [see: sex], and I'll change." But the furi ホレさせて抱いて俺が死ぬ (horesasete daite ore ga shinu) is "I'll woo her, do the deed, and die." Similar, but gives more context. (2/3)
Flashback to Ch 7, one of two examples of using furigana in dialogue (the other being the end of Ch 2.) Undead Unluck does this so much that it's become second nature, but I feel keeping elements of it in the TL helps so much in the long run. (1/3)
