I brought this up bc Shueisha gives Viz these photoblue scans that are basically unusable unless I correct them manually but they'll still have the watermark anyway. You can see an example here from the Naruto interview which I still highly recommend you all read! https://t.co/EBRGc1oenv
I don't think I mentioned this. In Super Smartphone, Moura's Googugu screen is in pictographs and onomatopoeia on part of him being slow-witted.
A closed fist "gu" + elongation squiggle ~ = "guu"
ぐ "gu" + Gu (グッ) the SFX for a thumbs up/グッドサイン (good sign.)
So instead of just saying "You need to use respectful speech to me," which kind of loses the punch and takes you out of the flow of the scene, I focus on what Corleo says. "I got it" is in very casual form, so logically she could be mad about him being so familiar with her.

For this scene, Hoshina uses オモロい which is a Kansai-ben way of saying 面白い (interesting) so instead of making it "interestin'" I shape the language around the word. "We've got" instead of "we have," "folks" instead of just "people." Respectable, but somewhat relaxed (4/6)
So, normally, you just contract a bunch of gerunds and make him talk like a hick and that's it, right? Nah. Hoshina is obviously competent, so making him sound intelligent is important. He uses keigo just like anyone else, but still has Kansai-ben in there. Prudence is key. (3/6)
I can't believe I didn't realize this line's worth until -after- I submitted my script. Tozuka-sensei's hella good.
作業する時にじゃなく完成し提出する前にこのセリフに気づき再確認するとへぇ~さらっと認識してる!って感心しました。いや当塚先生に脱帽を。#UndeadUnluck #アンデラ
you have no idea how good of a decision it was to let me work on a series like city hunter.
Using that piece of information, you can convey the same intended purpose by switching it to -how- Corleo replied to her instead of the -form of language- he used. お前 is a familiar/crass form of "you," so we can make that "kid" to hammer the point home.
Undead Unluck Ch 45 The Unluck Bullets are each numbered (first, second, etc) to the corresponding digit. I wanted to get across the same info in English, so I tried "first finger" "second finger" but that looked dumb. I eventually settled on the current format. #UndeadUnluck
